African Lion

Habitation: Afrika, southern Sahara
Natural habitat: open grass- and bushy steppes, savanna, half-deserts
Appearance: o males have crests that stretches from head through the neck up to the stomach
o they have eyeteeth like the cats do and use them for grabbing and killing the prey and also the back teeth for cutting meat, o on each paw: front 5, back 4 claws, with divestible gripsacks
 Reproduction: o gestation period: 105-112 days,
o 2-5 cubs in a row, o lactation time: 6-7 months
 Nourishment: daily about 7 kg of meat
 Live together in prides: o few males, more females
 and cubs,
o male cubs have to leave the pride after
 3 years,
o communicate thanks to roar that can be
 heard even from the distance of 9 km

 the oldest lions
 live up to 15
 years, in captivity
 even 25 years
